If you suffer from a bad back, tension or just want a way to stay tension free then invest in a foam roller such as you see in gyms or the physiotherapist clinic. they are quite cheap but a terrific way to massage out all those tensions and help to keep a tension free posture.
Lying on the roller and creating gentle rocking movements will help to give you a massage working on the myofascial tissue to break down those tense areas that build up. You can also use them to help your posture and open up the rib cage to expand the chest area.
Top athletes use them and they are common place in pilates classes. You can find lots of demos on youtube to find out how to use them. They come in a variety of length and firmness so when buying ask which will be best for you.
I got one as a present from my brother, its about 3' long with a 9'' diameter (sorry i still think imperial) and i have to say when it arrived i didn't know how to use it but as i say a visit to youtube saw me right.
apart from being good for you they can also save you a fortune paying for a massage....still you can't beat that hands on touch!
